The Iron have moved to sign Everton defender Shane Duffy on loan for an initial month.
The 19-year-old centre-back is presently on duty alongside fellow United centre-back Niall Canavan for the Republic Of Ireland's U21 side who he has represented twice.
The youngster began his career in Ireland turning out for youth side Foyle Harps before joining Everton in November 2008.
Duffy made his Toffees debut a year later as a substitute, coming on for Everton against AEK Athens in a Europa League tie in Greece.
New midfielder Damien Mozika revealed it was an easy decision to join Scunthorpe United after completing his move from Bury on Wednesday afternoon.
The 24-year-old Frenchman signed a two-year deal with the option of a third in the club's favour for an undisclosed fee to join up with his former Shakers manager Alan Knill at Glanford Park.
He told The Iron Player: "I'm really happy to be here and I'm finally glad that I've signed, it's been a long day.
"It was an easy decision for me to come here.
"When I knew Alan Knill was interested it was even easier because I had enjoyed my time when he was manager of Bury.
"I knew that the club were in the Championship last season and that they aimed to be there again so I was joining a team who matched my ambitions of playing as high as possible.
"It was hard though at the same time to leave Bury because everyone was so nice to me there and it was a real family club but I know I've made the right decision.
